Diet

A rabbit's diet is one of the most important things you can keep right to maintain your rabbits happiness and health. A rabbit's teeth continue growing at 3mm a week! They need to be trimmed down through eating hay, and lots of it. A rabbit should eat roughly it's own body size in hay a day. So it's important to monitor how much hay your rabbit eats, and what type of hay they like the best.
In accompany to the hay rabbits should get a small amount of pellet mix a day, some vets even say they don't need pellet's (so long as they eat plenty hay and fresh greens). Pellet food is better for rabbits than the mix. As it prevents selective feeding, and is healthier. Bare in mind that the mix is a lot like McDonalds, you wouldn't feed that to your kids/yourself every day would you? Some good brands of pellet food is: Bugress Excel, Science Selective and Wagg Optimum.
In addition to the above rabbits do need fresh green's quite often, and contradictory to popular belief (we can thank bugs bunny for that) carrots are NOT good for rabbits and should be given as the odd treat. Carrots are full of sugars which is bad for the rabbits teeth and health. Please visit this link to find out what veg, fruit, tree's, shrubs, plants & flowers are safe and not safe for your rabbit.
